1lb box of powdered sugar, sifted
1 stick of butter, softened..
3-4 tbsps strong coffee - melt instant coffee crystals in hot water.
or make very strong regular coffee
2-3 tbsps cocoa - for strong flavor I use Dutch Chocolate

Add softened butter to powdered sugar along with cocoa and 3 tbsps coffee. Beat with mixer, adding more coffee if needed to make a soft frosting that will spread nicely on the cake layers.
Will cover inside and two layers of the 10 inch cake pans.

This is the frosting I most often use on the Rich Devil's Food cake which is the family birthday cake. If you wish to have a fudgy frosting, omit coffee and substitute boiling water. Increase cocoa to 6 tbsps. Beat as above and spread on cake.
