1 c. shortening
1/3 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1 c. molasses
1 c. dark brown karo syrup
1 lemon rine grated
1 c. nuts
1 c. mixed fruit (ground up)
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. anise oil
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. cardamom
1/2 tsp. cloves
9 c. flour

Mix all ingredients together, refrigerate overnight. Roll into several logs approximately 1" in diameter. Slice thinly & bake at 350 for 12 to 15 minutes on greased cookie sheet.
