3/4 pound margarine
3/4 pound sugar
1 pound molasses
5/8 cup milk
2 3/8 pounds flour
2 3/8 teaspoons baking soda
3 1/4 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1 5/8 tablespoons ground ginger

Creaming method:
Beat the margarine and sugar together until it becomes creamy in color. Sift all dry ingredients together and add to sugar mixture for 2 minutes. Add the milk and molasses, mixing until smooth and coming away from the bowl. Roll out 1/4 inch thick, cut the shapes, and bake in a preheated oven at 350 for 14 minutes.

Icing:
1 cup egg whites
2 - 8 ounce box of powdered sugar
1/2 ounce cream of tartar

Blend ingredients together and fill pastry bag with icing . . . start decorating.
