Warm lazy day
Watchful & All-Knowing Grandma

Directions:
Every day spent on the farm in Randolph were like lazy play days for the Grandkids. We seemed to be unaware of the hard work our Grandparents did every day - 7 days a week - it was all paradise to us. One particular day, the bigger cousins - David, Roy and Terry were off with their BB Guns and we knew they didn't want us along. Me, Jennifer and the Stroud kids knew better but started doing a "GI Crawl" on our bellies into Grandma's Melon Fields. She had warned us not to mess with her melons, because these were to put bread on the table; but those ripe melons were calling to us like a bunch of Sirens ... we knew how to pick one with a good thump and we bust it open and dug into the heart and enjoyed it with big slurps. Whatever made us think SHE did not know ... besides us being gone and quiet for awhile we came back with red sticky mouths and juice down to our elbows. We immediately got a scolding and a tap on our buttocks with the Fly-Swat. After that time we knew for sure that Grandma could See All and she Knew All.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
I think this only happened once - because I'm sure we knew better than to ever disobey Grandma again. But it has stuck with me all my life. Grandma Holland always corrected me and her grandkids because she loved us dearly and wanted us to know right from wrong. If my memory is wrong, and if this was just me in trouble - my apologies to my Sis and Cousins. I know I was particularly naughty!!
