1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla or lemon extract
1-2 T. milk or water

Directions:
Directions:
Combine butter with sugar; beat until fluffy. Beat in egg until creamy. Stir in dry ingredients. Add vanilla or lemon extract and enough milk of water to make dough pliable.Form into a ball. (Can be wrapped to be frozen and stored)
To bake: roll or press out about 1/2" thick. Cut into desired shapes. Shape dough trimmings between fingers to make strips; place them on cutouts for decorated accents. Bake at 375º until firm and golden, about 10-12 minutes. Remove to rack;cool. Decorate with frosting. Makes about 3 dozen
