2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp nutmeg
1/4 c sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 c vegetable oil
1 egg
3/4 c buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together. Stir in buttermilk, oil, egg with a fork and beat until smooth. Drop with a teaspoon into hot oil. Fry until golden brown about 3 minutes and drain on paper towel. Roll hot puffs into confectionary sugar.

Variations -
1. Dip warm puffs in chocolate glaze, sprinkle with coconut
2. Dip warm puffs in orange icing, sprinkle with chocolate jimmies.
