Ingredients: |
Ingredients: 4 tablespoons olive oil 5 garlic cloves, (or more!) minced 2 28-oz. cans ready-cut peeled tomatoes
1 6-oz. can tomato paste (Optional) 4 tablespoons sun-dried tomatoes, chopped 10 fresh basil leaves Black pepper to taste Red pepper flakes to taste
Alternative: Add 1 medium onion finely chopped, and sauté the onion with garlic until limp.

Directions:In a deep 10-inch frying pan, heat the olive oil and gently sauté the garlic and onion if using. Add tomatoes, tomato paste and sun dried tomatoes. Add peppers and salt to taste.
Put on medium for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Tear basil leaves into small pieces and sprinkle into sauce right towards the end. |

Notes: My kids only like my homemade sauce. If I brought a jar out Marisa will whine. She likes to eat the sauce like it's soup. My mother-in-law who is from Italy actually gave me her two thumbs up on this sauce. Now that's Italian!
