1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c. sour milk
1 c. mashed bananas
1/2 c. nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream with mixer the shortening, sugar and eggs. Combine the flour, soda and salt then add to the creamed mixture. Then add the vanilla, sour milk and bananas, mixing as you go. Add nuts if desired.
Bake at 350º in a greased 9x13 pan for 30 minutes.

This is Betty Croft's "made from scratch cake", and is so easy and good. I always put caramel icing on it. (Which Connie likes to eat off the cake)
PS sour the milk by adding 1 tea. of lemon juice or vinegar or use buttermilk.
