1-1/2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
2-1/2 cups fruit cocktail, juice & all (one large can)
1/2 to 3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup nuts, if desired

3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 stick oleo
1 tsp. vanilla

For cake, stir together by hand, no mixer, all the cake ingredients EXCEPT the brown sugar and nuts. Pour into a 9 x 9 cake pan. Sprinkle top with brown sugar and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes. For icing, mix sugar, milk and oleo in saucepan and bring to boil. Boil one minute then add vanilla. Pour icing mixture over hot cake.
