1 medium head of cabbage
1-liter bottle of ginger ale
32-ounce bottle of ketchup
2 pounds lean ground beef
1/4 c water
1 small onion
1/2 c raisins (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cut cabbage into 1-inch wide strips and place in a large stockpot. Add the ginger ale and ketchup; cover and bring to a boil. Cook 15 minutes. In a skillet, cook the beef, water and onion over medium-high heat until beef is no longer pink. Strain away cooking liquid, and with it the excess fat. Add to cabbage mixture along with raisins. if desired. Simmer, covered low heat for 1 1/2 hours .
