Basic Sweet Dough
1 pkg. yeast
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. scalded milk cooled to lukewarm
2 eggs beaten
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter or shortening, melted
2 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. nutmeg (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine yeast, sugar, salt, mild and eggs in bowl
Mix well.
Add 2.1.2 c. flour and beat until bubbles form on surface.
Add shortening and remaining 2 1/2 c. flour
Let rise in warm place until double.
Punch down
To make braid, divide dough into 4 equal parts.
Shape 3 of the parts into strands 14 inches long.
Place about 1 inch apart on lightly greased cookie sheet
Braid loosely.
Seal ends well
Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar
Divide remaining portion of dough into 3 parts and shape into strands about 12 inches long.
Make another braid as before on top of the other braid, pinching ends of small braid into large braid.
Sprinkle again with cinnamon sugar.
Let rise until double (about 1 hour)
Bake 40-50 minutes
350º
Ice while hot with powdered sugar icing
