1 cake compressed yeast
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. water- slightly cooler than look warm
1 egg
7 c. flour
3 T shortening
(Can use 3 c. water and 10 1/2 c. flour just as well)

Directions:
Directions:
Refrigerate dough let stand 1 hour make rolls and rise 3 hours
Crumble yeast into bowl and add sugar, salt and water. Add well beaten egg, sift flour once before measuring. Add 1/2 of flour and beat well. Add melted shortening and mix in rest of flour with hands.
Let rise to double its bulk and punch down.
Cover tightly and place in ice-box after made into rolls, let rise to double in bulk.
Use hot oven. 375º 20 min.
