6 slices bacon
1 small onion diced
1 clove garlic minced
1 32oz. can sauerkraut, rinsed and well-drained
2 med. potatoes, peel and slice
1/2 to 1 cup of water
1/2 cup dry wine or apple juice
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. instant chicken bouillon
1 tsp. caraway seed
1 bay leaf
1 lb. (5Links) bratwurst
1 lg. apple, cored and sliced

In a large skillet cook bacon until crisp. crumble and set aside. Cook onion and garlic in drippings over medium heat until tender, stir occasionally.

Add the rest of the ingredients except the bratwurst and apple. Add up to 1/2 cup water to cover potatoes and bring to a boil.

Score the bratwurst, add to sauerkraut mixture and lower the heat. Cover and simmer 20-30 minutes or until potatoes are just tender, stir occasionally.

Add sliced apple cover and cook for 5-10 minutes longer or until apples are just tender. Remove Bay leaf and serve.
