1 cup raisins
1 cup water
3/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 cup flour
1 TSR. baking soda
1/2 TSR. baking powder
1 TSR. salt
1 TSR. cinnamon
1 TSR. ground cloves
2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup nuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Add one coup raisins to a cup of water in a small sauce pan. Simmer over low heat for 2-30 minutes.
Drain liquid into measuring cup, adding water if necessaruy to equal 1/2 cup. Let cool.
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla
Add raisin liquid
Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves.
Stir flour mixture into shortening mixture with spoon,
Add oatmeal, nuts and raisins.
Drop by teaspoonful 2" apart on un-greased baking sheet. Bake at 375º for 8-10 minutes. Yield: 6 doz.
