1 egg (beaten)
1 c brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c butter (1 stick)
2 squares bitter chocolate (melted)
1 1/2 c sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c milk

Frosting:
1/4 c butter (melted)
1 1/2 tsp. cocoa
2 tbls. milk
1 1/2 c confectioners sugar
Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until smooth and light. Add beaten egg, chocolate and vanilla. Put flour, salt and soda in sifter and sift 1/3 into butter mixture and stir with spoon while adding 1/3 of the milk. Continue until the flour and milk are mixed into the batter. Drop about 1 tsp. batter on greased cookie sheet. Bake 350 º 10 minutes

Frosting
Beat all frosting ingredients together--add more milk or sugar if necessary (want it to spread smoothly on cookie). Makes enough to cover one batch of cookies.
