1 pound butter – softened
8 eggs
4 cups sugar
6 teaspoons baking powder
2 large oranges – rind only
½ teaspoon vanilla
1 ½ cups whole milk
2 cups flour – added as needed

Directions:
Directions:
Add all dry ingredients to flour and stir.
Beat eggs. In deep bowl, beat butter and sugar. Mix in vanilla and milk. Add eggs and mix well.
With wooden spoon add flour mixture until mixture is too thick to work with spoon. Add more flour and work by hand until done.
Break off a bit and roll in hand to test. Dough should be soft enough to make a ball, not tough but sticks together.
Roll dough into long tubes and twist into shape. Use vegetable oil to keep it from sticking.

Bake at 350* on buttered sheet until lightly golden. Approximately 30 minutes.
