1 c. oil
2 c. sugar
3 lg. eggs
1 c. buttermilk w/ 1 tsp. soda
3 - 4 3/4 jars (containers) baby food prunes
2 c. flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. allspice
1 c. chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Cream oil, sugar, and eggs, then add prunes. Mix well. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Mix well, and fold in pecans. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 325º for 1 hr., 15 mins. Cool for 10 minutes, then invert cake on a wire rack to cool completely.

This is the spice cake of our childhood. Mommy made it very often. I clearly remember Linda, Angela, and me climbing up in the old salt cedar tree in the backyard with a piece wrapped in a napkin.
