1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
12 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the first seven ingredients. In another bowl, beat the egg, buttermilk and oil; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Pour into a greased 9 inch square baking pan. Sprinkle with pepper flakes. Bake at 425º for 14-16 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Cut into squares. Serve warm.
