8 oz elbow macaroni
1 T oil
1 c onion, chopped
1/2 lb. lean ground beef
2 1/2 c diced canned tomatoes(20 oz)
1 c celery, diced
3/4 c minced green pepper(optional, in our family)
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 T. salt (I think this was a mistake...!)(from Linda, yes it is a mistake. It should be 2 tsp.--thanks for catching that)
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/2 to 1 c grated sharp cheddar cheese - or - 1/4 c grated Parmesan cheese

Cook and drain macaroni. Meanwhile make the sauce. In a skillet, saute the onion in oil. Add beef and brown. Drain if necessary. Add rest of ingredients. Cook 5 minutes. Stir in noodles. Just before serving, sprinkle cheese on top. Eat.

Okay, folks...that is exactly how this recipe was typed by my mother! I'm fairly certain the 2 TABLESPOONS salt was mis-typed! (or, it explains my father's high blood pressure!) I'm not sure exactly how the edict to "make the sauce" is supposed to work out...I guess I should have tried to make these recipes from her instructions before typing them in...well...good luck!
From Linda: This was a standby recipe for Alex and Andrew when we went camping together. Jerry, at the lake, made this or something similar for Rich. It was a fav. of his.
