1 (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
1 lb. confectioners' sugar
2 c. chopped pecans, walnuts or almonds
1 (14 oz.) pkg. flaked or shredded coconut
24 oz. chocolate chips
1 tbsp. solid vegetable shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Put the condensed milk, sugar, coconut, and nuts in large bowl. Work with a wooden spoon or one hand until thoroughly mixed. Cover and chill 3 hours or more. Roll into balls, using about 1 heaping teaspoon of mixture for each. Put balls on a baking sheet and chill 8 hours longer. Line a baking sheet or tray with waxed paper.
Melt chocolate and shortening in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Remove from heat. Drop balls into chocolate mix one at a time to coat and lift out with a 2-tined fork. Scrape off excess chocolate. Refrigerate to harden.
