3/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
4 T. molasses
1/4 tsp. salt
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground ginger
granulated sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening. Gradually add sugar.
Blend in egg and molasses.
Sift flour with salt, baking soda, cloves, cinnamon and ginger.
Combine with shortening micture and mix well.
Chill 1 hour.
Shape 1 tsp. dough into ball and roll in granulated sugar (cookies will flatten as they cook).
Bake at 375º for 12 - 15 minutes.
