1 c raisins
1 c water
3/4 c shortening
3/4 c sugar
3/4 c brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 c flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
2 c oatmeal
1/2 c chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Place raisins, and water in sauce pan. Simmer 30 min. Drain and save 1/2 cup raisin water.
Cream together shortening, sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in raisin liquid. Blend flour, soda, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, and cloves, and add shortening mixture. Add oatmeal, cooked raisins, and nuts. Drop on greased cookie sheet. Bake on 350º for 15 min.
