1 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. white sugar
5 eggs, beaten
3 c. all purpose flour
1/2 t. baking powder
1 c. milk
1 t. coconut extract
1 t. rum flavored extract
1 t. vanilla extract

Glaze:

1/2 c. white sugar
1/4 c. water
1/2 t. coconut or rum extract

Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º. Grease a 10 inch tube pan. In a small bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Set aside. In a measuring cup, combine milk and 1 t. each coconut, rum and vanilla extracts; set aside.

In a large bowl, cream butter, shortening and 3 c. sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat until smooth. Beat in flour mixture alternately with milk mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Spoon mixture into prepared pan.

Bake for 1 3/4 to 2 hour or until cake tests done. Cool in pan on wire rack for 10 mins

Turn cake out of pan onto wire rack. Place waxed paper under rack to catch glaze drippings. Slowly spoon glaze onto top of got cake. Coo completely.

To make glaze: In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar and water. Bring to boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, add preferred extract.
