1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. canned pumpkin
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 c. raisins or nuts

Carmel Icing
3 T. butter
3/4 t. vanilla
4 T. milk
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. sifted powder sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add pumpkin, vanilla and egg. Stir to blend. Add dry ingredients, then fruit or nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls on cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350º.
Carmel Icing: Combine brown sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla. Bring to rolling boil. Remove from heat and stir until cool. Add powdered sugar. Frost cookies while warm.
