1 C dark raisins
2 C water
2 tsp baking soda
2 Tbsp shortening
2 C sugar
2 eggs
4 C flour
1 tsp salt
** 5 washed, dried and greased vegetable tin-cans

Directions:
Directions:
Bring raisins and water to boil. Cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Let cool for several minutes, then add baking soda. Set aside to cool.
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add raisins, water, flour and salt. Fill 5 cans half full and bake for 1 hour at 350º. Setting cans on cookie sheet to bake. Cool in cans before removing.
