Cake:
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1 cup butter
4 T. unsweetened cocoa
1 cup water
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Icing:
1/2 cup butter
4 T. unsweetened cocoa
1/3 cup milk
1- 16 oz. box confectioners sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans
Directions:

1) Preheat oven to 400º
2) Combine sugar and flour in a large bowl
3) Combine butter, cocoa, and water in a saucepan, bring to a quick boil- then pour, while hot, over the sugar and flour mixture- stir well
4) Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla
5) Mix well and pour into a greased 14x11 in. baking pan
6) Bake for 20 minutes
7) Start icing 5 minutes before cake is done
8) Combine butter, cocoa, and milk in a saucepan and cook over low heat until butter melts
9) Bring to a boil, remove from heat, and add sugar, vanilla, and pecans- stir well
10) Spread on hot cake while the cake is still in the pan- let cool before serving
