6 medium potatoes
2 cups shredded American cheese
1/4 c butter
1/3 c chopped green onions
salt and pepper to taste
2 tbs butter
2 c sour cream

Directions:
Directions:
Boil potatoes in peel, about 15 mins (do not overcook). Cool, peel, grate coarsely. Melt 1/4 c butter. Add cheese, butter, onion, sour cream, and salt/pepper.
Put in greased casserole dish. Dot with 2 tbs butter.
Bake 350 for 25 mins.

This recipe came from my great-aunt Jo Womack. She served this to us when we went to Birmingham for her daughter Mary Jane's wedding.
It has been a favorite holiday recipe ever since.
