1 cup Crisco
2 cups sugar
3 cups plain flour
4 eggs
1 cup milk
1 to 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla

Frosting:
1 stick butter
1/4 cup strong coffee
2 lb. 10x sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
condensed milk (enough to achieve right consistency)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream Crisco and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Combine flour and baking powder; add alternately with milk; add vanilla. Bake at 325 to 350 for 15-20 minutes. This makes 5 thin layers.
To make a chocolate cake or coconut cake, use 3 tsp. baking powder instead of 1 1/2. Bake 3 layers at 325-350 for 20-30 minutes, cool.

To make frosting cream butter, sugar and coffee until fluffy then add vanilla. Add milk if needed and spread between layers, on top and sides.
