Add salt to water strong enough to hold egg, then add 1 extra cup of salt.
Add cucumbers (about 3"or 4" ones work the best)
Let stand for 1 week. (Then follow)
1st. day- put cucumbers in fresh water.
change three times in 24 hours.
2nd. day- split pickles add 2 tbsp. alum to 2 gallons of water. Cover pickles and let stand 24 hours.
3rd. day- wash pickles and boil 20-30 min. in ginger water, 3 tbsp ginger to 2 gal. Wash pickles and make following. (3 1/2 lbs of sugar or 9 cups) 1 tbsp. mixed spices in bag, 1 qt. white vinegar,, make enough to cover cucumbers and pour over them.
4th day- drain part of liquid add cup sugar and heat
5th day- same as 4th. day
6th day- add 1/5 cups of sugar and 1 1/2 cup vinegar to liquid and pour over cucumbers.
