3 cups sugar
3 cups pound butter
1/2 cup Crisco shortening
6 eggs, beaten and separated
3 cups flour
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons almond extract

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter. Add sugar and shortening to butter and beat until real creamy. Add egg yolks - one at a time. Add flour, salt, baking powder and vanilla. In a small bowl, beat egg whites until stiff. Blend egg whites and milk into batter. Bake in 325 degree oven for one hour.
For variety, I have added ONE of the following:
1/2 pkg.cream cheese
1/4 cup white chocolate chips
1 cup buttermilk
