Directions:BIRTHDAY CAKES FOR CATS OR DOGS
Well, it's time for a birthday celebration. Fido and Kitty will be
there, and so will you:
PARTY MACKEREL [or Party Salmon] LOAF:
Trust me on this! You, Fido, and Kitty can enjoy this all three of you
together. With this recipe EVERYONE will get some nutrition:
1 pound can jack mackerel or salmon
1/2 cup sour cream or thick yogurt
2 teaspoon dried parsley
2 tablespoons wheat germ
1 tablespoon chopped green pepper
2 tablespoons chopped celery leaves or alfalfa sprouts
1 tablespoon chopped onion
1 egg
1 tablespoon brewers yeast
Mix the salmon or mackerel with all other ingredients except the sour cream
or yogurt. Don't remove any bones you find as these are soft and won't
cause any trouble. Place in a casserole. Spread sour cream or yogurt on
top and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Serve with whole wheat biscuits
or toast.
This can also be served unbaked. Heap the above ingredients into a mound
and cover with sour cream.

OF COURSE - THERE HAS TO BE A BIRTHDAY CAKE FOR FIDO:
FIDO'S CARROT PEANUT BIRTHDAY CAKE:
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon soy flour
1/4 cup chopped peanuts
1 egg
1/4 cup oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 cup ground carrot
Mix dry ingredients together. Add the rest of the ingredients. Mix
together quickly and bake in a greased ring mold at 350 degrees for 40
minutes. If you have a blender, use it to grate the carrots by putting the
egg and the oil in first and then adding small pieces of carrot one at
a time. Then when ready to serve. Decorate with lighted birthday candles
and walk in with Fido waging his tail, singing:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO FIDO
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
Blow out the candles. Take them off the cake, and watch Fido just love
eating his birthday cake. There's nothing better than a happy doggy eating
a homemade birthday cake just for him! But, now how about a party dish for
Kitty and friends:
PARTY DISH FOR 3 KITTENS:
This is a party dish for 3 kittens or any number you own:
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup bran
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/8 cup corn oil
1/4 cup soy flour
Mix ingredients together and press into small pie dish. Pyrex is best for
this. Place in ice box until ready to use.
CATFISH PARTY PIE FOR KITTY AND OTHERS:
1/2 pound catfish fillets
2 eggs
1 cup milk or stock
1 tablespoon spinach
small pinch of garlic
1 teaspoon parsley
1/4 teaspoon kelp
Cut fish up into pieces and arrange in pie crust. Mix milk or stock in a
blender with egg, spinach, parsley, garlic and kelp. Pour over the fish in
the pie shell and bake at 350 for 1/2 hour. Cool and serve to Kitty and
friends upside clown with the crust on top.
Not only will you find it great to cook for your pets, but enjoy having a
birthday party for them, and why not? They show you love and concern when
you're not feeling well. How about the time that Kitty knew you weren't
feeling well, and silently got up on your lap and just sat there as if to
say - I love you - I know you're not feeling well - and I'm here for you and
to comfort you!"
There's just something about a pet when you look into their eyes and they
look back, and that's another thing. Talk to Fido or Kitty. When you brush
their coats - to keep them still - sing to them! Make up your own song
about them. They'll love you for it!
