2 1/2 cups of sifted cake flour.
1 2/3 cups sugar.
1 1/4 tsp. double-action baking powder.
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda.
1 tsp. salt.
2/3 cup of high grade shortening (ex: Crisco oil).
1/3 cup buttermilk.
1 1/4 cup mashed bananas (3).
1/3 cup buttermilk.
2 large unbeaten eggs.
1 cup of chopped nuts.

Directions:

Sift together the first 5 dry ingredients.
Add the next three ingredients.
Beat with electric mixer on medium for two minutes.
Add buttermilk and eggs.
Beat 2 more minutes.
Fold in chopped nuts.
Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 1 hour at 350.
