2 cups sugar
2/3 cup milk
1/3 cup cocoa
2 Tbsp corn syrup
1/4 tsp salt
2 Tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Butter loaf pan or platter, and a 2-quart saucepan

Combine sugar, milk, cocoa, corn syrup, and salt in the prepared saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil and sugar is dissolved. Then continue to cook without stirring until fudge reaches softball stage (234 degrees on a candy thermometer)

Remove pan from heat. Add butter without stirring. Cool to lukewarm; quickly stir in vanilla and nuts, then beat with wooden spoon until candy appears to thicken and loses its gloss (5 to 10 minutes)

Pour quickly into buttered pan or platter; when firm cut into squares.
