3 slices bacon, cooked and chopped
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 small green pepper, chopped
1 bay leaf
3 medium tomatoes, chopped
4 c. chicken broth
4 c. butterbeans, fresh or frozen
2 T. parsley
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. Worchestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. Tobasco

Cook bacon in Dutch oven until crisp. Saute onion, green pepper and bay leaf until tender. Stir in tomatoes; cook 3 minutes. Stir in broth and butterbeans; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Simmer uncovered for 20 minutes, then stir in remaining ingredients and cook for 5 minutes, discard bay leaf and serve.
