1 pound frozen unsweetened strawberries, quartered and thawed or use fresh
1/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp. Grand Marnier (orange-flavor liqueur)
3 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup Grand Marnier
2 tbsp. sugar
6 slices thick-sliced bread, cut in half diagonally
Whipped topping, Cool Whip

Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine strawberries, the 1/4 cup sugar, and the 2 tbsp. Grand Marnier. Let stand 1 hour to allow flavors to blend, stirring occasionally.

2. Set up grill for direct cooking over medium heat. Oil grate when read;y to start cooking. Can also be done on a griddle. Butter griddle then cook about 3 minutes on each side or til golden brown.

3. In a shallow bowl, combine eggs, milk, the 1/4 cup Grand Marnier, and the 2 tbsp. sugar. Coat each piece of bread on both sides with egg mixture. Place coated pieces on hot, oiled grill or griddle. Cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side.

4. To serve, place one piece of French toast on a plate. Top with berries and whopped topping. Add another piece of toast and repeat layers. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Serve immediately.

I used Italian bread and cut it into thick slices. I did not cut the pieces in half as they would be too small. I used 2 slices per serving.
