2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon powdered cloves

1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar

1 egg
1 cup smooth applesauce

1 cup dark raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together first 5 ingredients. Cream together butter, brown sugar and sugar. Stir in egg and applesauce. Add the flour mixture, then add in raisins and chopped nuts. Spread in pan lined with foil or parchment paper. Bake at 350 until browned [30 to 40 minutes] . While warm - spread with confectioners sugar moistened with hot milk - this has to be of a runny consistency.

Cool and cut into bars.
