1 lb fresh or frozen halibut
4 slices onion
2 bay leaves
4 T butter
4 T flour
2 c milk
salt, pepper
1/2 lb. processed American cheese, grated
1/2 c buttered breadcrumbs

Directions:
Directions:
Place halibut in skillet, top with onion slices & bay leaves. Add 1/2 c water, cover & steam gently for 30mins.
Meanwhile make white sauce, add cheese & season.
Drain steamed halibut, break into serving size pieces & place in buttered 1 1/2 qt. casserole.
Top with cheese sauce & sprinkle with crumbs. Bake at 350 for 30 mins.
