8 or 9" baked pie shell
1 pkg (about 3 1/2 oz) vanilla instant pudding
1 pkg dream whip
1 1/2 c. milk
1 can cheery pie filling, drained (reserve thickened syrup)

Directions:
Directions:
In large mixing bowl blend pudding, dream whip topping mix and milk at low speed. Beat at high speed until soft peaks form, about 3 minutes. Fold in cherries. Pour into baked pie shell. Refrigerate 2 hours or until firm. Serve topped with reserved thickened syrup.

I add 1/4 c. chopped pecans or walnuts. I also spread a thin layer of reserved syrup on top of pie before I store it in icebox
