2 lbs. lean ground meat
1 med. onion
1 sm. green pepper, chopped
2 (8oz.) cans tomatoe sauce
1 sm. clove garlic, crushed
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. taco seasoning
1/2 tsp.salt
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. black pepper

Topping:
1/2 cup cornmeal (self-rising)
1/2 cup flour (self-rising)
1/2 cup milk
1 T. sugar
1 egg
1 cup grated cheese, divided

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Oil or spray 9X13 casserole dish.

Cook ground beef, onion, & green pepper until meat loses its pink color. Drain. Add seasonings, garlic, & tomatoe sauce. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered for 10 mins. Pour into casserole dish and set aside.

Topping:
Mix cornmeal, flour, milk, sugar, egg, & 1/2 of cheese. Pour over meat mixture. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake 25 - 35 mins.
