Sauce:
1 lb. ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, pressed
salt, pepper, oregano, basil
3 small cans tomato paste
3 28 oz cans crushed tomatoes in puree
3 cloves garlic, pressed

1 tbsp sugar
4-6 hot Italian sausage, uncooked

Meatballs:
1 1/2 lb ground beef
salt, pepper, garlic powder
1/2 C grated Parmesan cheese
3/4 C breadcrumbs
2 eggs
1 small onion, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Saute 1 lb beef with onion, garlic, seasonings.
Drain off liquid, add 3 cans tomato paste, cook until warmed. Add to the following.
In large crock pot, add 3 28oz cans crushed tomatoes, garlic, seasonings and sugar. Add raw Italian sausage.
Meatballs-Mix together 1 1/2 lbs beef, seasonings, cheese, breadcrumbs, eggs and onion. Form into balls and bake in shallow baking dish at 350º for 45-60 minutes. Let cool a bit then add to crockpot for last 45-60 minutes of cooking time.
Cooking time-low setting, all day.

This recipe comes from my sister-in-law Jamie. She grew up over an Italian restaurant in upstate New York. So this is about as close to authentic Italian as you can get.
