3/4 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs or 4 whites, beaten
1/4 t. salt
3 c. cake flour
3 t. Baking Powder
1/2 t. flavor
1 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening well, add sugar gradually. If yolks are used, beat until thick and add to creamed sugar and fat. Sift flour twice then measure and sift twice more. Add flour and milk alternately and beat well after each addition of milk and flour. Leave 1 c. flour to mix with BP & soda, sift mixture into cake.
Add flavoring then fold in egg white. But don't beat mixture after whites are added. Put in greased cake pan to 350º for 20-30 min.
