1 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cups raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Directions:
Directions:
1. In a mixing bowl, beat the maple syrup, shortening and egg with an electric mixer on medium speed till the mixture is well combined.

2. In another mixing bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add the dry ingredients alternately to the syrup mixture with milk, beating with the mixer on low speed after each addition till just combined. Stir in the rolled oats, raisins and chopped walnuts or pecans with a spoon.

3. Drop the cookie dough by Tbsp onto lightly greased baking sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or till the edges of the cookies are lightly browned. Remove to wire racks.
