3/4 cup softened butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla
2-1/2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Mix wet ingredients thoroughly together. Sift dry ingredients together and mix thoroughly into well ingredients. Chill dough at least 1 hour. Roll out 1/8 inch thick. cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Sprinkle with sugar if desired.

Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until delicately golden.

Makes approx 4 dozen 3 inch cookies
