8 oz caramels (28 to 30)
1/2 cup evaporated milk
3 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup oil
2 cans apple pie filling
Topping:
8 ounces cream cheese
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
Chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Melt caramels in top of double boiler with evaporated milk, stirring until smooth. Keep warm over hot water. Sift together flour, salt and sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles gravel. In small bowl beat eggs with water and oil until smooth and creamy. Add to flour mixture and stir just until mixture holds together. May be refrigerated 1 hour to make it easier to handle. On an 18 by 14 inch sheet of heavy duty foil, roll pastry out to a 17 by 12 inch rectangle. Fold edges to form a standing rim. Fold foil up around pastry to form a pan then place on a cookie sheet. Fill pastry with apple pie filling. Set aside. In a small bowl combine cream cheese, sugar and egg. Beat until smooth. set aside. drizzle warm caramel in diagonal strips over apple filling. Spoon cream cheese mixture between caramel strips. Top entire pie with chopped nuts. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes, until pastry is browned. Cut in squares Serve warm or cold
