1 c. brown sugar
1 c. lard
1 T. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 c. warm water
2 c. Brer Rabbit molasses
5 c. flour
1 T. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, lard and molasses. Measure flour before sifting then sift together with spices and soda. Add alternately with water to the sugar mixture. Let it set overnight.

To shape, take balls of dough 1 inch thick and with the palms of your hands flatten into shape of a tongue. Lay on a cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Sprinkle with granulated sugar. Bake at 375F for 12 minutes.
