1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. warm water (115 to 120')
2 pkgs. active dry yeast
5 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1 c. shortening or butter
2 c. buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve sugar in warm water. Sprinkle yeast over surface. Set aside for a few minutes, until yeast dissolves and mixture begins to foam. Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder. Cut shortening into flour mixture. Add yeast and milk to flour mixture, mixing well. Knead on a lightly floured board 14 to 16 strokes. Roll out and cut into biscuits and place on cookie sheets. Freeze and transfer to freezer bags. Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 400º or until brown.
