1 1/2 lb. ground beef, extra lean
2 tbsp. minced onion
1 tbsp. parsley flakes
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. salt
1-7oz. can mushrooms (I use fresh ones sauteed)
1 can vegetable soup
1 pkg. frozen mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn, lima....)
1 c. sour cream
1/2 c. milk

Topping:
1 1/2 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp celery seed
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. poppy seeds

Cook meat, onions, parsley and garlic. Stir in salt, pepper, mushrooms and soup. Simmer 15 minutes. Add sour cream and milk and heat thoroughly. Place in baking dish.

Topping: Mix flour, baking powder, paprika, salt, celery seed, and pepper. Cut in shortening. Add milk and stir just until moistened. Drop by tablespoon on meat mixture. Sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake in 400º oven for 20-25 minutes.

This was one of my Mother's (Elsie Dugger) recipes, and was a Great Company meal in a dish. We now make a HEALTHIER version with either ground Turkey or ground Bison, but it is still a family favorite.
