1 c thick applesauce
1 t baking soda
1/2 c shortening
1 c sugar
2 eggs
2 c sifted flour
1/2 t cinnamon
1/2 t cloves
1/2 t nutmeg
1/2 t salt
1 pkg chocolate chips
1/2 c chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Combine applesauce & soda; stir together and allow to stand. Cream together shortening & sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs & continue to beat until mixture is fluffy & light. Stir in applesauce mixture., add sifted dry ingredients & choc. chips & nuts.
Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 9-12 mins.
