3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour

3 tablespoons butter, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 box Nabisco Vanilla Wafers
6 bananas ripe but firm

Directions:
In a bowl, combine the sugar, salt and flour. Slowly stir in milk until smooth. Pour into the top of a double-boiler over simmering water. Cook, stirring constantly, until the pudding begins to thicken.
In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolks; gradually whisk in about 1/2 cup of the hot milk mixture (tempering). Return the mixture to the double-boiler and continue stirring until thickened. Remove from the heat and cool.
Line a 9x13" oblong cake pan with a layer of cookies, then with a layer of sliced bananas. Spoon some of the pudding over the layers, then make another layer of cookies and bananas. Top with the rest of the pudding. Chill for a couple of hours before serving.

Personal Notes:
Ok, so forget the calories. We were all raised on Nana Dollie's banana pudding. Nobody made it better. Nobody even tried. Well it's time for us to learn to make it so all the little ones in our family can share in the memories. Nana Dollie was truly the queen of our family desserts.
