1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
3 cups sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. mace
2 tsp. vanilla
3 cups chopped apples
2 cups chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix and sift flour, soda, salt, and spices; add gradually. Stir in vanilla, apples and nuts. Batter will be stiff. Spoon into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan and bake at 325º for 1 1/2 hours. Let cool in pan 10 minutes, then remove.
